Bihar Govt. imposes complete ban on alcohol

Bihar Govt. has taken a decision to completely ban on all types of liquor throughout the state including Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Decision in this regard was taken by the state cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. Earlier on 1st April 2016, state government had banned country made liquor in the state except IMFL in the 1st phase. Now in the 2nd phase, foreign liquor (IMFL) will also be banned with immediate effect. The production, sale & business of all types of liquor have been banned in the state. Henceforth person found indulging in manufacturing trade, transportation, sale & consumption of liquor across the state will be punished under the stringent provisions of the Bihar Excise (Amendment) Act, 2016. The Act has various stringent provisions including awarding ‘capital punishment’ for those who manufacture and sell illicit liquor that causes death. Alcohol prohibition in India is in force: Gujarat, Nagaland, Lakshadweep (UT) and parts of Manipur. Since 2014, Kerala has been implementing prohibition in a phased manner.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurates the 3 major railway projects in Bihar

The PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 3 major railway projects in Bihar at an estimated cost of 7000 crore rupees. 3 projects are Rail-cum-road bridge at Patna over the River Ganga: It is 4.56 km long. Rail-cum-road bridge at Munger. Additional bridge at Mokama over the River Ganga: It is double line Railway Bridge. These 3 bridges will provide connectivity to north and & south Bihar and further help in development of the North Bihar.

Currently there are 3 bridges over the entire 460 killometers length of the river Ganga in Bihar. They are road bridge at Naugachia, a rail-cum-road bridge at Mokama and road bridge Mahatma Gandhi Setu at Patna. The inadequate number of bridges had become one of the reasons hindering the development of Bihar which is one of the most populous state in the country.

Government announced special package for Bihar of 1.25 lakh crore rupees

The Union Government has announced 1.25 lakh crore rupees package for poll bound Bihar as the part of Prime Minister’s Bihar Package. this statement was announced by the PM Narendra Modi in Arrah(Bihar).
Key facts:

This the special package to Bihar was declared inline with on going national social sector schemes

These schemes are :

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan.

Jyoti Bima Yojana.

Atal Pension Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Roads and Railways:The total package amount around 55 Thousand crore rupees will be spent on Four-ways and widening of highways. It will include construction of bridges across the Sone,Kosi and Ganga, rivers and 12 Rail over-bridges.Besides, around the Fourteen thousand crore rupees will be provided for the rural roads.
Barauni Refinery:Over 21Thousand crore rupees will be allocated for the expansion of Barauni Refinery and setting up of new Petrochemical Plant along with construction of LPG Gas pipe-lines and massive expansion in domestic LPG connections.

Electrification:Around 16 Thousand crore rupees will be earmarked to the electrification of villages and towns and over 3 Thousand crore rupees for farmers welfare.

Other investments: It will include over the 40 Thousand crore rupees which is unspent amount of 2013 Package given to state for the ongoing works of National Highways and the Ultra Mega Power Projects in Banka.
