Jethabhai Patel the veteran co-operative leader and Sabar Dairy chief was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation that markets the Amul brand of dairy products in India and across over the country.Patel will head (GCMMF) Asia’s largest milk co-operative and the apex marketing body comprising 17 dairy unions of the state for the next 2 and a half years.Jethabhai Patel was unanimously elected chairmen of all 17 district dairy unions under the (GCMMF),who are also board members of GCMMF.Jethabhai Patel has been chairman of Sabarkantha District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited Sabar Dairy, since 2010. Jethabhai Patel had been serving as a interim chairman following a no-confidence motion passed against former Chairman Vipul Chaudhary in 2013.

The GCMMF is Asia’s largest milk co-operative and the largest food products marketing organisation of India that exclusively markets products under the brand name of Amul and Sagar. It was formed by late Dr. Verghese Kurien in 1973, which today is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat. Jethabhai Patel chaired GCMMF for more than 30 years (1973 to 2006).
