Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung approved the appointment of Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal as Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). It was approved after he had rejected appointment of Maliwal earlier over the issue of proper clearance of file in this regard.Swati was appointed to this post by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after constituting new DCW under-Section-4 of the Delhi Commission for Women Act,1994.The other members appointed include Farheen Malik, Promila Gupta and Sarika Chaudhary. They will have tenure of 3 years. Prior to this appointment, Swati Maliwal was working as an advisor to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on issues related to the public grievances which are handled under Janta Samwad initiative of Delhi Government.
