Every year on second Friday of October World Egg Day is being celebrated as per the directives of International Egg Commission.
Significance of Day:
- This day helps to propagate the nutritive value of eggs in human nutrition. This day signifies to increase egg consumption, which is the main source of protein.
- National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) is conducting several programmes and campaign on 9th October to promote awareness about the nutritional value of the egg among different age groups.
- Union government has decided to celebrate the day in four places in the country, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Mumbai (Maharashtra),Bhubaneswar (Odisha), and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).
