The former Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University Amitabh Mattoo was appointed as Advisor to (J&K) Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on 21 August 2015 .Amitabh Mattoo will have the status of a Cabinet Minister.
Amitabh Mattoo has been the (CEO) and inaugural Director of the Australia India Institute and Professor of the International Relations at the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Currently,Amitabh Mattoo is on leave from New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) where he serves as a Professor of Disarmament Studies at the School of International Studies.Amitabh Mattoo widely regarded as an inspiring and innovative builder of institutions and foremost Indian intellectual seeking to build peace in the South Asian region.
Mattoo also serves on the Governing Council of Indian Council for Social Science Research,
He has been a Member of the National Knowledge Commission, a high-level advisory group to the Prime Minister of India. Amitabh Mattoo is the President of the Indian Association of International Studies.
