OP Rawat appointed as new Election Commissioner of India

Om Prakash Rawat, a 1977 batch (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre,Om prakash Rawat was appointed as the Election Commissioner of India on 13 August 2015.

Om prakash Rawat’s appointment, the sole vacancy in the 3 member poll body has been filled.

Om Prakash Rawat born on 2nd December 1953, Rawat will have tenure of more than 3 years which will end in December 2018.Om Prakash had retired from government service in December 2014. During his career,Om Prakash Rawat served as Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises(SDPE) in the Ministry of Heavy Industries.Earlier Om Prakash Rawat had served with 2 chief ministers as their principal secretary.
