Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao launched a programme Grama Jyothi Scheme across the state on 17 August 2015. The scheme is aimed at comprehensive development of rural areas.
For the successful implementation of the Grama Jyothi scheme, the state govt. has decided to invest 25 Thousand crore rupees to the empower villages.
The Grama Jyothi scheme will focus on improving the Human Development Index by the addressing core issues such as:
Drinking water,health and nutrition, agriculture, education,i nfrastructure, natural-resources management, social security and poverty reduction.
The Grama Jyothi Scheme aims to empower gram panchayats. This Scheme introduces a participatory approach in the preparing village development plans involving the panchayats.
Grama Jyothi Scheme will be a game changer to inclusive and holistic development of rural villages of Telangana state. The government will also incentivise villages that achieve 100% targets in the areas of sanitation, immunisation, nutrition, literacy and green cover.
