Bangladesh receive funds from United Nation for Solar Home Systems:

Bangladesh has became the 1st country to receive funds from United Nations(US) for the fast growing solar home systems on 20 August 2015.The (UN) United Nation Framework Convention for Climate Change issued 395286 carbon credits worth 3.56 million US Dollar to 2 Bangladeshi organisations.

The(IDC) Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. and “Grameen Shakti” are the two organisations that won carbon credits.The (UNFCCC) has been issued 212482 carbon credits to the (IDCOL) and 182804 credits to the Grameen Shakti.

(IDCOL) is a state owned development financial institution dedicated to the promote and finance infrastructure and renewable energy projects,while Grameen Shakti set up by the Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus.


Solar home systems of Bangladesh:

Bangladesh supported by various international organisations like the World Bank and Global Environment Facility, Bangladesh has installed around 6 million small solar home systems covering over the 10 % of its 160 million population.


Bangladesh has one of fastest growing solar energy users with rural households using renewable energy for lighting, running fans and TVs and charging mobile phones and other electronics system.


The Solar home systems helping Bangladesh to cut carbon emissions by reducing use of kerosene in rural the areas.
