Gujarat is set to become the first state in India to launch the ‘Agro-Solar Policy’.The new policy seeks to encourage the farmers in the state to tap free solar energy from sun, which will in turn help to earn income from power generation companies.

- The Power generation companies will set up the solar photo voltaic plants in different agricultural fields.
- It should be noted that these plants have been already tested in the different agricultural universities in the State.
- Gujarat Power Corporation Limited and Gujarat State Electricity Corp. Ltd have already set up (SPV) plants in farm fields.
- After buying surplus power, power generation companies will give 30% to 40% share from the profit to the farmers.
